SPLICING

It is a method of joining one rope to another or joining two parts of the rope by tucking the strands of one under and over those of the other.

1. Back Splice

It stops the end of a rope from unravelling but thickens the end, making it difficult to reeve through a block.

2. Short Splice

This is the strongest way of joining two lines together permanently or rejoining the ends of a parted rope. It increases the diameter substantially making it unlikely to render through a block or eye.

3. Three - strands eye splice

An eye splice is the way to form a permanent loop in the end of a rope and is used more often than any other type of splice.
