7. Camper's Chair
Materials required:
6 long poles
6 short poles
Twine
Method:
Using 3 long poles, construct a tripod. Tie 2 long poles about 25 cm from the bottom end of the tripod. Use the short poles to construct the seat and back rest as shown in the figure. Square lashing may be used throughout.
8. Laterine
Materials required:
An open ground away from wells, streams or rivers
A changkol
Method:
Dig a rectangular trench about 15 cm by 100 cm and 60 cm deep. Surround the trench with the top soil. After each use, top soil is to be sprinkled generously into the hole. When the depth of the trench is about 20 cm, fill up the old one and dig a new one.
9. Litter Bin
Materials required:
3 long poles
Twine
Trash bag
Changkol
Method:
Slit one end of the long pole. Bury the poles into the ground so that a triangular space is formed. Using the twine, tie the opening of the trash bag to the slits ends of the poles.
10. Oven
Materials required:
A large tin with 2 open ends
Bricks
Firewoods
Mud
Method:
Coat the large tin with a large amount of clay/mud, and let it dry in the sun, or heat it over the fire. Use the bricks to construct a fireplace. Place the tin on top of the fireplace. Food to be cooked is to be placed into the tin. Should more heat be needed, a fire can be constructed on top.
11. Shoe Rack
Materials required:
6 short poles
4 long poles
Twine
Method:
Use diagonal lashing to tie the short poles together as shown in the figure. Lash the long poles together to form a flat top using shear lashing.
12. Toilet Paper Holder
Materials required:
2 branches that look like the letter 'Y'.
1 short branch
Method:
Anchor the 2 branches into the ground very near to each other. Insert the short branch into the centre of the toilet roll and put it across the anchored branches.
